How To Plan a Golden Anniversary Celebration

Golden Wedding Anniversary

Golden Wedding Anniversary

The milestone that is the Golden Anniversary deserves a fitting celebration, as it is a milestone that many couples never see. The 50th Wedding Anniversary is one of the most special times in a marriage, and you will want the celebration to be just as special. If you know a couple ready to reach that special milestone of the Golden Anniversary, here are some tips to help you plan a great celebration.

• First, when deciding what type of Golden Anniversary Celebration would be appropriate, you should consider the couple’s personality? A lot will depend on the couple’s preference; for instance, will they enjoy a surprise party, or maybe they would feel more comfortable with an intimate gathering of family and friends? Keep in mind that the day is all about them and what would make them happiest.

• Decide on a day to celebrate; this can be on the actual anniversary day, or a date that is close to it. You will also need to have a time picked out for the party.

• Pick a location to have the party. If you are planning a gathering at a restaurant, you will need to make reservations ahead of time.

• Send out invitations to guests; this should be done about one month in advance, but if there are guests coming from out of town you may want to send them out even earlier. In the invitation make sure to include your phone number and instructions to RSVP as soon as possible. A nice touch to the invitations would be to include a picture of the couple; this could be a recent picture or even a copy of one of their wedding pictures.

• If you are not having the Golden Anniversary Celebration at a restaurant, you will have to consider catering options. To save some money you can always choose to cater the event yourself; this often works out great.

• Purchase decorations; most party stores will have party decorations that are specifically meant for Golden Anniversary Celebrations. These decorations are usually a mixture of gold and ivory, but if you want to add an extra personal touch you can place, “then and now” pictures of the couple around the room too.

• Don’t forget that you will also need music. Nostalgia is important for the 50th Anniversary so try and use music from the time era in which the couple was married, and don’t forget to play their favorite love song too.

• Gifts can be difficult when they are for a couple that has been together so long; chances are there are very few things they will actually need. If you would like to make it a truly memorable occasion for them, talk with everyone about putting their money together to send the couple on a great vacation, as apposed to buying separate gifts.

The rest of the party planning should be centered on each unique couple and may include things such as viewing wedding video, and having each person present recount a special memory of the couple.

Most importantly, keep the party about them, their lives together and the many different things they’ve accomplished together through the years.
