How To Throw a Children’s Party on a Budget

Party
Children’s parties can be very expensive, no matter if it is a party for Christmas, Halloween, or a birthday party; if you are not careful you could easily spend hundreds of dollars. Fortunately, if you plan ahead you can usually throw a great children’s party fairly inexpensively.
• Plan a Budget: Sit down and figure out a budget for the party you want to throw. If you know what you are going to spend in advance, it will be much easier to stick to your budget.
• Make a Guest List: Make out a guest list, and to help you keep to your budget it may be best to only invite your child’s closest friends, and possibly some of his or her classmates. When delivering the invitations ask the parents to RSVP as soon as possible so you will have some idea of how many children will actually be attending. This could help you to cut out unneeded items, and save you money.
• Party Theme: Choose a party theme; this can be centered around your child’s favorite Super Hero, or Pirates, Princesses, whatever your child will enjoy. If you have enough time you can use your computer and printer to make your own personalized party invitations.
• Decorations and Favors: Look for bargains on party favors; you can often find them at your local dollar store for a fraction of the price you will find them at a party store. Not every item has to be an exact match to the theme, as long as it will work well with the theme.
• Party Location: Choose a location to hold the party; although it is fun to rent a nice location, if you are on a budget your home or yard will due just fine, and save you a great deal of money. The only thing you really have to consider when choosing a location for your child’s party is that it should be age appropriate for all children that will be attending.
• Party Entertainment: Despite the fact that children’s party entertainment has grown somewhat elaborate in recent years and often include magicians or clowns, you can do just as well with some old fashioned entertainment, such as party games and crafts.
• Party Food: Catering is another very expensive part of a children’s party, but this is easy to get around. Make the food yourself and keep it simple. You can serve dishes such as hotdogs, cookies, and punch. You can also order out for pizza, which most children love. Additionally, Finger foods are easy and inexpensive; some examples could be little cutout sandwiches, cheese sticks, etc.
• Little Gifts: Send the little ones away with some great gifts that won’t cost you much; some examples would be squirt guns, pencils, candy, basically anything fun that will fit in the party favor bag.
With enough thought and planning you can throw a wonderful children’s party that all the kids will love, and you won’t have to worry about breaking the bank to do it.
